On an island famous for all it's white houses this is the one known through out the island as "Whitehouse" (no "The."). It's a fabulous house, one of Tiree's original farmhouses and one time local school house. It is less than 100 yards from a rocky shore with great views across the sea and the island. The nearest full on sandy beach is an easy 5-10 minute stroll along the shore. The house is off the main road circuit and surrounded by fields so is very quiet with one other house and some working farm buildings as its only close neighbours. Cows, sheep, chickens and hares are all but in the house; seals from the local colony regularly sing to you.

The house is positively luxurious for up to six; eight can be comfortably accommodated by either more than two in a bedroom or using the second living room as a 4th bedroom. There is still plenty of living space if you do this. A separate porch, hall, garage and utility room keep the living areas and bedrooms clear of junk.
Several of the key rooms have numerous windows, making it exceptionally bright.
The house was extensively modified several years ago (see house plan on next page) and has significant upgrades every year - an ongoing labour of love. We stay in the house ourselves for at least 5 weeks every year so it has an authentic family home feel with artwork from several generations of the family on the walls, varying from primary school gems to some previously internationally exhibited wall hung quilts.
There are 3 large bedrooms, an upstairs bathroom, 2 shower rooms, 2 living rooms (one of which easily converts into a 4th double bedroom,) a kitchen-diner and a large dining room with spectacular sea views.
The combination of location, views, character, brightness, extra space and homely feel make this a vey special place to stay.
Outside school holiday periods it is reasonably economical for a small party or couple to rent (we love staying there on our own!) The price may be negotiable for a small party at short notice.
Several weeks in October still available
After alot of work and considerable expense our application was submitted before the deadline at the end of September 2023.
This means that we are legally entitled to continue to trade. I expect all relevant paperwork to be displayed in the house and available on this website by Summer 2024.
